Andrew Castellanos, LAc, CST
A licensed acupuncturist with a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from AIMC in Berkeley, I address and treat the physical and emotional aspects of injury and illness through acupuncture treatment protocols, Neuromuscular Reeducation, soft tissue mobilization, cupping, Shiatsu, myofascial release, acupressure and deep tissue sports massage. I have a deep understanding of the body from both a Western and Eastern perspective, and I’m known for my ability to “read” each patient’s unique and individual situation while drawing on my 17+ years of experience treating sports injuries.
I am also the on-call acupuncturist for the San Francisco Ballet, Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet and the Impala Racing Team, and I’ve worked with Olympians, MLB players, marathon runners, tri-athletes, college football players and rugby players. My therapeutic treatment style is uniquely suited to athletes; my main focus is getting injured athletes back to their sport and preventing future injury while enhancing their performance.
I’ve had great success and many achievements by using a combination of acupuncture and massage to effectively treat injuries—especially those involving swelling, spasms and/or pain. I also treat professional athletes in order to help them recover faster from surgery and get back to their game stronger.
I grew up playing soccer, baseball, wrestling, track and field, football, skateboarding and snowboarding. My personal experience with the satisfaction of leading a healthy and active life is a big part of what drives me to work with athletes. With every patient, I utilize the intuition that comes from years of professional healing experience to personalize each treatment. I take the time to really listen, seek out imbalances in the body, and then use the appropriate style of bodywork and Chinese Medicine techniques to treat each imbalance.
