This policy explains what information Acupuncture for Athletics ("we", "us") collects through acuforathletics.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Health information we receive as part of your care, including anything you enter when booking or in the patient portal, is confidential medical information protected by California law, and is covered by our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your first name, last name (optional) and email address. If you call or email us, we receive whatever you choose to share.

Appointment booking and the patient portal. The booking calendars and patient portal on this site are provided by CharmHealth, our electronic health record provider. The details you enter there, such as your name, contact details and reason for visit, go directly into our secure health record system. They are handled as confidential medical information under our Notice of Privacy Practices, not under this website policy.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you stay and the site that referred you. This comes from cookies, similar technologies and standard server logs.

How we use information

• to operate, secure and improve this website;
• to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find us;
• to send our newsletter, if you subscribe (every email has an unsubscribe link);
• to respond to your calls and messages; and
• to comply with the law and protect our rights.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to measure how visitors use this site, for example which pages are visited and whether someone taps our phone number or booking button. We don't send health information, names or contact details to Google Analytics, and we have configured it not to use site data for ad personalization. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings.

Do Not Track. We don't sell your information or track you across other websites for advertising, so we don't change how the site works in response to "Do Not Track" browser signals. Google may collect information about your use of this site over time, as described above.

Third-party services and embedded content

Parts of this site are provided by, or link to, other companies. They may collect information directly from you under their own privacy policies:

• CharmHealth: online booking and the patient portal.
• Mailchimp (Intuit): newsletter sign-up and delivery.
• Google: analytics, maps, reviews and web fonts.
• Square: gift card purchases.
• Shopify: our online store at aforathletics.shop, which is a separate site with its own policies.
• Instagram and Yelp: links to our profiles on those sites.
• Website hosting, security and performance providers that help us run this site.

How we share information

We share personal information only:

• with service providers who help us run the site and our practice, and only for that purpose;
• when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our patients, our practice or others; and
• as part of a sale or transfer of our practice, subject to this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Email, text and social media

Regular email, text messages and social media messages are not a secure way to send health information. Please don't include details about your health, injuries or medical history in these messages. If you choose to email us, we will treat the information carefully, but we can't guarantee its security in transit. Security and retention

This site uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and we limit who can access our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information. We keep website and newsletter information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Medical records are kept for the periods required by law.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them online. A parent or guardian must arrange care for patients under 18.

Your choices and California privacy rights

• You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
• You can ask us what personal information we hold about you from this website, and ask us to correct or delete it, subject to our legal duty to keep medical records.
• Under California's "Shine the Light" law, you can ask whether we share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing. We don't.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your identity before acting on it, and we won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear on the site.
